TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Some local college students are taking a unique approach to raising awareness about an important issue.
The Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Indiana State University is taking part in sexual assault awareness week. After a week of raising awareness and funds for charities related to the cause Friday, the group ended the week by taking part in a 24-hour marathon of Seesawing.
The highly visible stunt is a way to get passersby to stop and learn more about the effort.
“They always ask why we’re seesawing. It’s kind of weird on campus, grown men seesawing,” Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity member, Ashton Russel said. “They come in, we tell them our topic. We get a lot of compliments.”
The fraternity looks forward to this event every April. The money raised will benefit the Council on Domestic Abuse.
