AEPi mourns the passing of Brother Bernie Marcus

November 5

AEPi mourns the passing of Brother Bernie Marcus, [co-founder of Home Depot]. A 1954 graduate of Rutgers University, he was initiated as an honorary initiate in 1989.

Brother Marcus’ legacy as a philanthropist, supporter of Israeli and Jewish causes and organizations, and improving his adopted hometown of Atlanta is unmatched. His devotion to developing Jewish leadership included supporting various funds at the Alpha Epsilon Pi Foundation as well as AEPi chapters at Vanderbilt and Emory, among others. He was committed to AEPi’s mission to develop the future leaders of the Jewish community.

He was more than just a supporter. He was a role model for our brothers, showing them the importance of dedicating oneself to Tikkun Olam. He was also a mentor and friend for many members of our fraternity. We mourn today with his family and hope they can find solace in Bernie’s memory and lifetime of good works.
