Mason Remington Captures NWC Spring Classic Title

DUPONT, Wash. – Mason Remington, member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, topped the final leaderboard to take home the Northwest Conference Spring Classic men’s individual title as the two-day event came to a close on Monday at the Home Course.

Both the men’s and women’s teams placed second in the final team standings of the Classic. The men’s squad shared runner-up honors with Whitworth after firing a two under par for the tournament, just one stroke back of first place Willamette. The women’s squad finished in a solid second place behind winner George Fox.

Remington fired a five under 139 for the tournament, three strokes better than a trio of second-place finishers. The team featured two other top 10 finishers as well. Alexander Knox shot an even par to finish in a tie for eighth, and Ben Sweet, member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, carded a one over 145 and placed in a tie for 10th.

The women’s side also saw three Blues crack the top 10 in the final individual leaderboard led by Ellena Jeong who shot 10 over 154 to finish in fifth place. Katya Kurkoski carded one stroke back of Jeong and finished in a tie for sixth with Samantha Torres placing in a tie for ninth at 13 over 157.

With the results from the Classic contributing 25% toward the final conference standings, both teams remain in the hunt for the title ahead of the NWC Championship held April 21-22.
