Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. awards $1,500 in MLK Scholarships

VALDOSTA — The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Kappa Tau Lambda Chapter awarded three scholarships to graduating seniors from Brooks County High School, Lowndes County High School, and Valdosta High School.

According to Marcellus Carter, Education and Scholarship chairman, each scholarship presented was $500.

Jamon L. Williams, a graduate of Brooks County High School, is attending Fort Valley State University. Williams plans to major in animal science, with a goal of becoming a doctor of veterinarian medicine.

Miles Green, a graduate of Lowndes County High School, is attending Georgia Tech and plans to major in aerospace engineering. His goal is to become an air traffic controller.

Tyndil Dyer, the graduate of Valdosta High School, is attending Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. He plans to major in dietetics and applied nutrition. His goal is to become a dietitian for professional sports organization.

The MLK Scholarships are made possible by the community’s support of the fraternity’s annual MLK Breakfast.
