This past August, fraternity brothers gathered at the Theta Chi Convention at the New Orleans Marriott Canal Street, for an event that conducts official fraternity business, celebrates the brotherhood and recognizes its accomplishments. One of the honorees at the event was Logan Kane ’24, who earned the resolute man of honor.
Kane attended the convention alongside his Theta Chi brothers and Ship alumni, James Johnston and Alex Stratton. At the convention, all Theta Chi chapters in the nation conducted an assembly line service project, filling approximately 900 backpacks with school supplies for military families in New Orleans. Over the past couple of years, the Ship Theta Chi chapter has run clothes for the Salvation Army and held money bingo boards with proceeds going toward various charities.
The event was a special time for Kane, taking home the Resolute Man of Honor served as a huge accomplishment. “I felt stunned that I was holding it. Being the first brother from Shippensburg University to receive this honor only reinstated the drive to serve my chapter and community to the best of my ability,” expressed Kane.
Kane also stated that winning the honor has strengthened his responsibility to be the best role model and brother to those who are younger. “It changed my perspective, proving that it does not matter where you come from or how small your resources are. You can make an impact if you look in the right places and are around the right people,” Kane noted. He also believes that every Theta Chi brother should strive to earn such an honor, which is possible through being an active member of the community and helping others.
