CU Boulder welcomes three new chapters to Fraternity and Sorority Life

Oct. 10, 2024

The fall 2024 semester saw three new chapters join CU Boulder’s Fraternity and Sorority Life community. Learn more about Lambda Chi Alpha, Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. and Latino America Unida, Lambda Upsilon Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Lambda Chi Alpha

Lambda Chi Alpha, also known as Lamba Chi, is a recognized fraternity and part of the CU Interfraternity Council (CUIFC).

Lambda Chi Alpha inspires and equips men to lead an ethical life of growth, service and leadership. There are more than 170 active Lambda Chi Alpha chapters, each challenging and empowering men to become better versions of themselves in every season of life. Since 1909, their legacy has deepened when each generation equips even more young men to redefine who they are and who they can be for others, generation after generation.

The fraternity seeks to foster this legacy of leadership through enduring relationships, strong mentorship and intensive instruction on our history, values and code of conduct.

Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. MGC Fraternity

Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. also joins MGC this fall.

Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. was founded on Dec. 10, 1985, at the University at Buffalo when 16 men formed a support group to provide a social and cultural outlet for students of Latin American descent. The university’s Greek system lacked an organization dedicated to the needs of the Latino community. To meet those needs, the group chose to pursue recognition as the first Latino-oriented Greek-letter organization on campus. The founding fathers represented various ethnic backgrounds, demonstrating the diversity of the Latin American community. The unity realized by these men became the foundation upon which the fraternity was established.

As Lambda Alpha Upsilon continues to develop, it has maintained its principles and purpose, for these are what distinguish the brotherhood and guide its members through their personal and professional endeavors. All these things can be combined to express one common belief. No matter what obstacles or difficulties stand in our way; “¡Venceremos Porque Nacimos Para Triunfar!” (We will overcome because we were born to triumph!) We are all given the opportunity to live a significant life and as such, it is our responsibility to leave our mark on society.
