SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Thursday, students at Hodge Elementary School received a donation of school uniforms and school supplies from the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.

The Mu Phi chapter says it’s all about helping students who need it most, and it’s all possible thanks to donations from the community.

The fraternity has done this initiative for over the last decade.

Last year they focused on giving back mostly school uniforms, but this year with many respiratory illnesses on the rise in our area, the organization gave back masks and other supplies for students to try to keep each classroom safe from any spread of sickness.

The committee chair says this tradition is all about filling in gaps in what students need.

“It’s important to give back to schools like this because there are so many under-deserved, under-served kids in the community that need these supplies to, you know, advance in their school careers,” said Herb Baker, Committee Chair, OPP Frat Inc.

“I would like to thank the Brothers Omega Psi Phi fraternity for donating the school uniforms and supplies to Hodge Elementary students. Our students are definitely in need of supplies and uniforms and we appreciate your hard work for our community,” said Dr. Monica Simons, Asst. Principal of Hodge Elementary School.

The Mu Phi chapter also has a golf tournament that helps them continue to give back to the Savannah community next month.

This is the 5th annual tournament and its taking place at the Southbridge Golf Club.
