The RI Beta Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi stepped into philanthropic action shortly after learning about the unexpected passing of their brother & recent University of Rhode Island graduate Timmy Howard. Timmy tragically lost his life due to a severe anaphylactic reaction just a week after his graduation from URI.
Through this unexpected tragedy, the fraternity has demonstrated the true meaning of brotherhood, stepping up to offer support and remember Timmy. Over 50 brothers were in attendance for Timmy’s funeral, from his roommates, fraternity alumni and active brothers from all across the Northeast coming to share their love in his celebration of life on Friday May 30th. Within days of his passing, the fraternity created and shared a fundraiser for Food Allergy Research & Awareness (FARE) in Timmy’s memory. Their influence and outreach to their networks helped the fundraiser lead them to surpass their $25,000 goal in just 2 weeks.
Timmy’s unexpected passing has left a profound void for his family, friends & fraternity brothers but through this act of brotherhood, they have committed to honoring his memory in a way that brings purpose and change. It is a true reminder to the men that are living the Phi Kappa Psi motto “Live Ever, Die Never.”
