PATERSON, N.J. – The holiday spirit filled Public School No. 2 this week as Paterson Police Sgt. E. Del Valle and members of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. hosted their fifth annual How the Lambdas Stole Christmas community event, bringing joy to hundreds of local families.
More than 250 children and their families were treated to breakfast, Christmas gifts, and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus during the celebration, which united officers, fraternity members, and community volunteers in support of Paterson residents.
The event, now in its fifth year, has become a cherished tradition that emphasizes partnership between law enforcement and the community beyond daily duty. Organizers said the goal is to strengthen connections through acts of service, especially during the holiday season when many families face financial challenges.
Department officials praised Sgt. Del Valle and the volunteers for their continued dedication to outreach and inclusion. “Events like this reflect our ongoing commitment to showing up for the community beyond the badge,” the Paterson Police Department said in a statement.
Local businesses and civic groups contributed donations and supplies, helping ensure every child in attendance left with a gift and a smile. The department said it plans to continue supporting initiatives that build positive engagement with Paterson’s youth and families throughout the year.
