50th Anniversary Weekend will honor five decades of Theta Mu’s legacy, leadership and service in Milwaukee and beyond
MILWAUKEE, WI — The Theta Mu Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated will commemorate its 50th Anniversary with a special weekend celebration honoring five decades of brotherhood, scholarship, service, and leadership.
Founded on September 17, 1976, at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), Theta Mu has laid the foundation for what would become an enduring legacy of Sigma excellence in Milwaukee. Current Milwaukee Police Department Chief Jeffery Norman, and former Milwaukee Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton, are both alumni of the Theta Mu Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
“For 50 years, Theta Mu has been more than a chapter — it has been a brotherhood committed to developing leaders and serving our communities,” said Kendall Gilmore, Chair of Media Relations for the 50th Anniversary Committee. “This anniversary gives us an opportunity to honor the brothers who built this chapter, celebrate everyone who has carried its legacy forward, and recommit ourselves to ensuring Theta Mu remains strong for the next generation.”
Celebrating 50 Years of Legacy
The Theta Mu 50th Anniversary Weekend, taking place Thursday, September 3rd 2026, to Sunday, September 6th 2026 in Milwaukee, will bring together chapter brothers, alumni, members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, family, friends, community partners, and supporters from across the country. This anniversary is a celebration to recognize the special role Milwaukee has played in Theta Mu’s story and the generations of brothers who have helped strengthen the chapter over the past five decades. “This weekend is not simply about looking back at what Theta Mu has accomplished,” said Kendall Gilmore, Chair of Media Relations for the Theta Mu 50th Anniversary Committee . “It is about celebrating the foundation that was built for us and thinking boldly about what the next 50 years of Theta Mu can become.”
