My route to joining Chi Psi was unforgettable. I rushed in the fall of 2019 and was stuck on a few different fraternities and confused about where to go. My mother encouraged me to keep looking around in case I found one that fit me well. I went out to Chi Psi one night and immediately fell in love. I knew diversity was a big consideration for me during rush. I wanted to be part of a Brotherhood that accepted me for who I was. I found my home at Chi Psi. Right from the start, everyone made me feel as if I was already a Brother by being inclusive, welcoming, and showing me endless love. There were many different Brothers who came from all sorts of backgrounds and it was clear that their differences made them stronger and brought them together. I could tell Chi Psi was exactly where I needed to be.

I think diversity can be encouraged in Greek Life by showing others what diversity actually means, and how important it is to a Brotherhood like ours. By this, I mean it can’t just be something that’s a one-time deal. It should be something that is incorporated into our daily lives. Brotherhood is supposed to transcend these differences of race, ethnicity, religion, etc. and truly embracing that would help fraternities tremendously in this respect. We can also focus on honing in on how diversity makes a Brotherhood stronger. Promoting diversity allows for Brothers to understand and experience the struggles and triumphs of people from different backgrounds and allow for total inclusivity.

In Alpha Alpha Delta, knew that I wouldn’t have to change myself into something I wasn’t, and that the Brothers of Chi Psi would accept me no matter what. My Brothers – past and present – have provided me with so much love and support to help me succeed and be the best man I can be. After finishing my bachelor’s degree in Biological Science with pre-vet intent, I plan to go to vet school and earn my DMV degree. Someday, I hope to open my own practice. #BlackHistoryMonth
