Get to know your CU Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council and Panhellenic presidents, Kettner Hunter, Fernando Gonzalez Clara and Grace Waida. The “Member Spotlight” series aims to bridge the gap between chapters and councils by showcasing the individuals that make up our Greek community. Each month, we highlight a different member, sharing their unique journey, accomplishments and contributions to campus life.
Kettner Hunter
As the founding chapter president for Delta Tau Delta in the 2022-23 school year, I love leadership. As a leader, you can learn so much about yourself and the behind-the-scenes work that it takes to run an intricate organization. More importantly, the CUIFC is a fully student-led organization that works to meet the needs and interests of every member chapter. As a council, the CUIFC strives for excellence and makes decisions that will benefit the Greek community as a whole.
Major: Media production
Class year: Sophomore
Chapter: Delta Tau Delta
Favorite part of being a member of Fraternity & Sorority Life: My favorite part of being the president of the CUIFC Executive Board is that I get to be the change that I want to see in the Greek life community. I get to work with every chapter to make sure each one is getting the best experience possible while adhering to the standards that we set for ourselves and for our community.
Fernando Gonzalez Clara
I want Fraternity & Sorority Life members to know that I am a first-generation Mexican-American student. My parents are from Mexico, but I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Originally, I was going to attend Colorado Schools of Mines for mechanical engineering but ultimately made a last-minute decision to come to Boulder and study aerospace engineering. I have never regretted the decision, and I love my major. I have a pet dog named Cito who is a border collie mix and the best doggo in the world! He loves everyone he meets and loves to sleep. He’s always smiling and has many names depending on his personality for the day.
Major: Aerospace engineering
Class year: Senior
Chapter: Lambda Legacy Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc.
Favorite part of being a member of Fraternity & Sorority Life: My favorite part is the family I gained. Coming to campus during COVID, I only had a few connections and honestly didn’t want to stay at Boulder. However, Sigma Lambda Beta (SLB) gave me a community to belong to and thrive in. It even allowed me to develop leadership skills through serving on executive boards, planning events and organizing community service projects. I am forever grateful for what SLB has done for me. I also appreciate that Multicultural Greek Council is made up of terrific individuals who come from different organizations to unite the underrepresented Greek letter organizations, strengthening and expanding communities of color and cultures on this campus.
