On Saturday, October 18, 2024, Shippensburg University announced the homecoming royalty winners during halftime at the Ship vs Kutztown football game, located at Seth Grove Stadium. All proceeds that were raised directly support the SCRC’s Hound’s Pack program.
This year, Tymere Harris and Annie Linker took home Homecoming Royalty!
Tymere Harris
Harris is a mechanical engineering major, a brother of Kappa Alpha Psi, a Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) board member, director of public relations for the African American Organization, VP of the Muslim Student Union and runs his own summer camp.
Throughout Harris’s journey at Ship, he has grown as a person and felt inspired to run for homecoming royalty as a way to inspire others.
“Hearing my name called was a wide range of emotions—excitement, pride, and joy,” he reflected. “But as much as I loved that moment, it’s about how I can help somebody else get in this position. It’s really about pushing forward.”
Harris shouted out his fraternity brothers, who have helped him become the leader that he is today. Also, through his role on the MSA board, Harris has helped contribute to several campus events, including the Homecoming Casino Night and the step show. As the director of public relations for the African American Organization and as VP of the Muslim Student Union, Harris is dedicated to inclusivity.
“I want students, especially students of color, to know there are opportunities here.” said Harris.
Outside of Ship, Harris and his friend run a summer camp in his hometown of South Philadelphia, called The Next Up Youth Program. This summer program has become a way for Harris to give back to his community and help support younger generations in reaching their greatest potential.
Moving forward, Harris plans to graduate after the spring, and is preparing for a mechanical engineering internship in Houstin next summer.
