FIU Greek life came together to celebrate at the second annual Greeksgiving event, where members bonded over dinner and found out who their next chapter presidents are.

Held at the Graham Center Ballrooms, any member of a fraternity or sorority was welcome to join the event.

Although membership of a Greek organization can have a number of academic benefits and assist in student’s future careers, most agree the appealing part is the unique, tight-knit relationships that are enjoyed between its members.

Mason Linder, a business management major in Pi Kappa Phi, expresses that opinion: “My favorite part is the people. It’s cool being around Greek life, and people you know.”

For some members, the close bonds FIU Greek Life provides can’t be found anywhere else.

“I’m an only child,” explained Kevin Castillo, a member of Phi Delta Theta studying mechanical engineering. “Being able to have an extended family is something I really appreciate.”

Opportunities to join FIU fraternities and sororities occur throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters. FIU offers more than 40 chapters to join.
