Student Senate approved an appropriation of $1,500 to a campus fraternity in order for it to attend a conference in Chicago in its meeting Nov. 19.
Tau Kappa Epsilon-Delta Nu Chapter former President Dominick Ocampo spoke on behalf of the organization. He said the Regional Leadership Conference is a great opportunity for the members in attendance.
“It’s an opportunity for us to connect with other chapters, as well as network with prominent TKE alumni who are currently on the national chapter,” Ocampo said. “It also gives us the opportunity to share other practices and gain knowledge from one another as chapters.”
There will be a total of 12 members who can attend the conference; 10 executive officers and two members who are not officers, but are prospects to join the executive board.
Ocampo said while at the conference, members will learn professional skills that they will be able to take with them past their college career.
“It’s a really fun event for the guys that go,” Ocampo said. “I have gone in the past, but it’s also a really good professional setting to just be involved in, because it really betters you as a person and as a leader.”
During its discussion, sophomore Class Rep. Phillip Motazedi said he has attended a conference similar to this one in the past and agrees it is a great opportunity to bring ideas from other chapters into Northwest.
The total amount requested from Tau Kappa Epsilon-Delta Nu Chapter was approved by Senate.
