Through their “Pay it Forward” initiative, members of Theta Delta Lambda helped families with their grocery purchases Monday to honor Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy.
The fraternity purchased $3,500 worth of groceries for 70 families at the Walmart at 5631 Dyer.
“During these difficult times for families, we hope to continue to let our light shine,” the fraternity said in a statement.
Theta Delta Lambda was chartered in 1962 and is a chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the oldest intercollegiate fraternity established for African Americans. Among its members was Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights leader.
