STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) – The Georgia Southern Fraternity, Sigma Chi, raised more than $100,000 in one week all for cancer research.

Georgia Southern’s Greek Life finished up Philanthropy week with a whopping 100 grand to send to the research center in Utah.

This year’s funding is going to breast cancer research.

The fraternity says they held a dance party, a car wash, and restaurant fundraisers.

At the end of it all, they became one of the fraternity’s top-performing chapters.

“It was very eye-opening that a bunch of college boys, college men could come together and raise that high of an amount of money,” said Evan Belding, Sigma Chi.

The fraternity president said even though the funds raised will go outside Georgia, he hopes to continue those efforts right here in the Georgia Southern Community.
