Southeast Missouri State University’s Greek Week 2023 raised $23,000 to support the campus and the local community in the spirit of philanthropy.

The funds raised went to several organizations including:

  • One City
  • SEMO NASV
  • Community Partnership of Southeast Missouri
  • Dream Factory
  • Boy Scouts of America
  • Voice for Children
  • Hope for One More

In addition to the money raised by Greek Life, there were over 6,800 cans of food collected to support the Redhawk Food Pantry which serves members of the University Community. Greek students also collected over 4,900 articles of clothing to support the Women’s Safehouse of Southeast Missouri and Teen Challenge.

“It is our duty as a Greek community to come together to help those in need of our assistance,” said Frankie Kulavic, philanthropy coordinator for Greek Week.

The Redhawk Blood Drive, hosted in the weeks leading up to the official start of Greek Week, was also a huge success. The blood drive saw 667 units of blood collected, enough to potentially save the lives of more than 2,000 people.

“This week shows different organizations and communities that we, as Greeks, have the ability to come together as one and be a part of something bigger,” said Kulavic. “The opportunity to foster a change and to impact a group of people so that we may become closer as a community along the way.”

Other events that took place during Greek Week included the Greek Games, Walk-A-Mile, Shiver and Slide, Greek Sing, and a Lip Sync Battle.
