The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life (OFSL) hosts this year’s Greek Weekend celebration from Thursday, April 25, through Sunday, April 28.
Greek Weekend is an annual end-of-year celebration dedicated to all Greek life at UNC Charlotte, including over 40 organizations.
The Greek Weekend executive board plans the weekend with OFSL. The executive board is made up of students from their five councils: Diversified Greek Council, Independent Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Panhellenic Association.
“It has been a little more tedious, but it has been really fun. Planning usually starts in the fall semester, like October, and we just make sure the dates chosen align with the weekend before the last day of classes,” said Yahaira Trejo, an OFSL intern and lead coordinator of Greek Weekend.
The weekend starts with a day of service to give back to the community on Thursday, April 25.
The executive board chooses the organizations they give back to, and then the fraternities and sororities can choose which one they want to participate in. Some services include Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina river clean-up in Belmont and NC MedAssist.
“I’ve truly enjoyed it; it’s really fun because our office bonds over this, and it is really fun to see all the hard work that our organizations have put into the school year, and everyone looks forward to this week all year long,” said Trejo.
