The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., through The Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter and its foundation, the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund (ISDEF), proudly welcomed students of Prince William County back to school by providing over 100 backpacks, school supplies, and classroom essentials. These donations were distributed across Covington-Harper Elementary School, Mary Williams Elementary School, and River Oaks Elementary School.
In addition to supplying essential materials, the chapter also conducted the “High Five” program, greeting students with encouragement and positive energy as they entered their schools, setting the tone for a successful academic year.
Recently, there has been a noticeable uptick in the Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter’s involvement within the Prince William County area. This includes the chapter’s adoption of a highway, further demonstrating their commitment to serving the community through both educational initiatives and environmental stewardship.
With a deep-rooted commitment to ensuring that youth receive a quality education, the fraternity continues to uphold its dedication through national programs like “Go-To-High School, Go-to College.” The Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter, since its chartering in 1981, has been a steadfast supporter of the Prince William County area, particularly through initiatives like the Alpha Academy programs at Potomac Middle School. These programs offer mentorship and guidance to young men in the community, fostering their academic and personal growth.
The ISDEF, established to further educational opportunities, has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships to students pursuing higher education. This past June, the ISDEF distributed over $70,000 to students in Prince William County, assisting them in attending institutions such as Howard University, Old Dominion, Virginia State, Norfolk State, and Cornell University, among others.
The Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter and ISDEF remain committed to supporting the educational aspirations of students in Prince William County, ensuring that the youth have the tools and resources necessary for success.
