90th Michigan Mud Bowl raises $58K for Mott Children’s Hospital

Phi Delta Theta defeated Sigma Alpha Epsilon in the charity football game to claim bragging rights for the first time since 1994.

ANN ARBOR, MI – The muddiest tradition in college football returned to Ann Arbor Saturday for its 90th edition ahead of the Michigan Wolverines’ rivalry game against Michigan State.

Host fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon battled it out with perennial rival Phi Delta Theta at high noon on the muddy lawn off Washtenaw Avenue where the two fraternities first faced off in a friendly contest in 1934.

For the first time in 30 years, the Phi Delts defeated SAE to earn bragging rights. The event raised a total of $58,000 for the Charles Woodson Clinical Research Fund at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, bringing the total raised since 2016 to more than $400,000. Fundraising continues, and donations can be made on the Michigan Mudbowl Club’s website.
