It’s almost crawfish time at Troy University.
Farmhouse Fraternity is hosting its annual philanthropy fund drive Crawfish Boil on May 1. The event has become a spring tradition on campus and the surrounding community.
Funds from the event go to support the Alabama Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in memory of fraternity brother Matthew Awbrey, who died in December 2023.
“Matthew was an integral part of our chapter, and we are committed to honoring him by raising awareness and funds to support mental health initiatives and suicide prevention programs,” said Charlie McCullough, Farmhouse Fraternity’s philanthropy chair.
This year, the fraternity hopes to raise $35,000 with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the AFSP’s Birmingham office.
Tickets are $10 for all-you-can-eat crawfish and live music from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sorority Hill on Elm Street in Troy. Donations and sponsorships are available and tickets may be purchased online via https://farmhouse.crowdchange.co/47257.
