IRVING, TX (May 14, 2025) – Scouting America today announced the election of Devang Desai as its new National Commissioner. Desai brings a wealth of experience in youth development, community engagement, and organizational leadership to this pivotal volunteer role.
As National Commissioner, Desai will represent Scouting America in national affairs, serve as the chief morale officer, and represent the commissioner service team. He will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Scouting America, ensuring its continued commitment to character development, leadership skills, and outdoor adventure for young people across the country.

Desai has a long and distinguished history with Scouting. As an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver, Silver Antelope, Silver Buffalo, NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award honoree, and a recipient of the Order of the Arrow’s Distinguished Service Awards, he is a strong advocate for creating an engaging environment where young people can learn, grow, and develop into responsible citizens.

As a graduate of the University of Miami and University of Miami School of Law, Desai is a partner in the Miami office of Freeman, Mathis & Gary, LLP. He succeeds W. Scott Sorrels, who has served as the Scouting America National Commissioner with dedication since 2020.
