UT student Kevin Ho has won Veteran of the Year for the State of Tennessee and is now in the run for the national title.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – University of Tennessee student veteran, Kevin Ho, was nominated for and named the 2025 Military Friendly Veteran of the Year for the State of Tennessee.

He is now in the running for National Veteran of the Year.

“To be selected amongst all the other veterans in the state is truly an honor and certainly not something I was anticipating,” Ho said.

Ho currently serves as president of Student Veterans of America President. He’s also a Student Government Senator and holds leadership positions on the Interfraternity Council.

Ho also works the front desk at the Veterans Success Center, a place he described as a second home.

“It definitely feels like there’s a big community there for me,” Ho said. “It was one of the first organizations I met when I came to UT. They were very supportive in assisting me and in trying to figure out what my next steps were.”

Veterans Success Center Director Tom Cruise described Ho’s work ethic as dedicated.

“He’s never been an individual that I’ve seen that backs off and is like ‘Oh that’s too much’. Anytime I’ve ever asked ‘Hey Kevin, can you do this?’, it’s always yes. It’s never a hesitation,” Cruise said.

Voting for the Military Friendly National Veteran of the Year will close on July 4.
