RUSTON, La. (KNOE) – A Louisiana Tech fraternity is giving back to cancer patients after raising $30,000 for St. Jude’s research in one day.
Tau Kappa Epsilon says they’re committed to making sure every child has a chance to truly live.
In their philanthropy week, they raised just over $30,000 for childhood cancer. Their goal is to reach $100,000 by the end of the school year. Fraternity members took a trip to St. Jude to learn about their work firsthand.
“That’s a second chance I want to dedicate my time and my effort to. Being a microbiologist, I can’t help them out the way that I want to, at the minimum I can give is money, if I can’t give money I can give time, and if I can’t give time, I can give five minutes in a barber chair to spread awareness the way I can,” said Adrian Lamkin, Louisiana Tech Tau Kappa Epsilon member.
The fraternity says it plans to expand its efforts beyond campus. They’re planning more fundraisers in Ruston in hopes of increasing awareness.
