VERMILLION — September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout the month, the Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) Fraternity at the University of South Dakota will be raising funds and awareness for local, courageous children battling cancer. The month-long effort will culminate on Wednesday, Sept. 26 when the chapter hosts Dining for Kids, a signature philanthropy event for the chapter.

Dining for Kids will be held at Little Italy’s Pizzeria, 831 East Cherry Street, Vermillion. For $5, guests can enjoy two large slices of pizza and a soft drink. Proceeds will support local, courageous children supported by Cure Kids Cancer.

Cure Kids Cancer’s mission is to help children’s cancer centers, like the one at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, find life-saving treatments and eventually cures for children’s cancer by raising funds and awareness. Cure Kids Cancer is a program of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2010, the USD PIKES have dedicated more than $60,000 to cancer care.
