Total philanthropy $ raised in 5k history: $51,000

In 2012, Joe Sazyc ‘10 passed away following a brain cancer diagnosis. Since his passing, brothers of Delta Nu Chapter have hosted the Joe Sazyc Memorial 5k in his honor.

Held every May, the race has resulted in a total of $51,000 being raised for the American Brain Tumor Association. In addition to the race, attendees can participate in raffles, purchase t-shirts, and watch an award presentation for the top three finishers. Runners enjoy a DJ, food, and beverages after race completion. Sponsorships are available for organizations and community groups.

Much of this success can be accredited to Michael Bankes ‘16, who has served as event organizer for two years. In 2019, brothers raised $13,000 for brain tumor patients and their families. They look forward to beating that number next year

“Joe inspires us to go all out for this event and help prevent future loss from this condition,” Martin says
