FLUSHING, Mich. — Since 1991, the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Kettering University has played a major role in helping to make the annual Flushing Candlewalk a reality. On Dec. 4, the fraternity continued its community outreach tradition by unpacking and assembling candles for the 2019 Flushing Candlewalk. Over 50 Sigma Chi brothers gathered at a warehouse in Flushing to complete the task, building around 2,100 candles by filling precut milk jugs with sand and candles and then stacking them to be set out and displayed in the streets of Flushing on Dec. 5 and 6. Many Sigma Chi brothers also helped to blow out the candles on Dec. 5 and assist with clean-up efforts over the weekend. Candlewalk volunteer Jay Moldenhauer and the Flushing Area Chamber of Commerce also thanked Sigma Chi for its continued support of Flushing’s annual holiday celebration.
