NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.— Greek Week returns for its annual appearance starting on Monday. The widely anticipated week will feature a different theme of events every day from Monday through Friday, with one event for the finale on Saturday. The themes include “Tri-Sport Showdown” on Monday, “Game Night/Mystery Event” on Tuesday, “Splash Bash” on Wednesday, “Backyard Games” on Thursday, “Greeks Got Talent” and “Battle of the Greeks” on Friday and “Sing N Swing” on Saturday.

“Penny Wars” is an event that takes place every weekday during the lunch hour where each Chapter attempts to raise money solely in pennies as anything other than that counts negatively against them. The Chapter with the most pennies raised by the end of the week wins. All proceeds will go to the Cystic Fibrosis foundation.

“I’d have to say that my favorite part about Greek week would most definitely be sing and swing. This is my second year doing the choreography and music for my sorority. So I’m super excited to not only see what we put together but also what all the other sororities and Fraternities put together,” said Jessa Kinter, a Junior and member of the Apha Epsilon chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

“I enjoy going into class and seeing all the people that we are going to compete with that night. It’s just a cool thing. It kind of feels like game day, but six days in a row,” said Dom Prozzoly, a Junior and Treasurer for the Beta Phi chapter of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, “Tuesday come in and we’ll talk about who won volleyball, dodgeball and basketball and then we’ll do it all over again the next night. It’s just exciting.”

The event is not only great for competitive spirit, but serves as a way to bring people of all chapters together.

“I think that Greek week is important for Greek life at Westminster, because it’s just a great way to bring the whole entire community together. Even though, of course, it’s competition all weak, I think that we still do a great job at the end coming together to do both our service drive and our “Penny Wars”,” Kinter said, “The competition really brings out the pride that we all take in being a part of our Chapters.”
